More foreigners than ever are competing in StarCraft in Korea, with even more on the way. TeamLiquid has a full spread of players in Korea, mOOnGLaDe is aiming to be a strong competitor in Korean tournaments, and long time protoss favorite WhiteRa has even discussed the potential for competing in Korean tournaments rather than European. Despite that, zerg sensation IdrA has announced that he will be leaving Korea and competing once again in the United States.
IdrA has been unhappy about competing in Korea for some time now, and has repeatedly voiced his distaste for the Korean Battle.net ladder. When you combine his growing dislike of competing overseas with the fact that MLG’s new prize pool brings the United States on equal footing with Korea’s GSL prize pool, there is simply less motivation to remain in Korea at all. When MLG announced its new prize pool for 2011′s pro gaming circuit, many speculated that foreigners overseas may become interested in coming to the United States instead, and they very well might bring a number of Koreans with them. Western esports is undeniably on the rise. Will IdrA be alone in returning to the US, or will he be the first of many?
